The school provides and maintains a safe, secure and happy environment for the students. It is the expectation of the school that all students will be challenged to reach their full academic potential in all areas of the curriculum. Students will be expected to work within the guidelines of the schools discipline policy. The school has an active parents club, heavily involved in fundraising.
The school provides a sequential curriculum for students in years Prep to 6, in the areas of English, Mathematics, The Arts, Health and Physical Education, Science, Studies of Society and the Environment, Technology and LOTE (Italian). Years 4 - 6 participate in inter-school sport, athletics and cross-country runs within our network of schools. Parents are encouraged to participate in programs such as reading, maths, science, Perceptual Motor Program (PMP), sport and physical education. The school offers a camping program for students in grades 3 - 6. Special programs are developed which reflect the expertise of staff and address student needs to develop self-confidence and an enthusiasm to learn. This includes integration, gymnastics and folk dancing.
The physical environment of the school is attractive, well developed and maintained. It has areas for both passive and active use by students, staff and the local community. The school oval and multi-purpose building are being used by the community on a regular basis. Teaching areas reflect an environment, which fosters learning, with specialist facilities for library, art and physical education. The building stock consists of six permanent classrooms and two relocatables. The school site covers three hectares, consisting of an oval, grassed play areas, fixed play equipment of various types, large sandpit and an asphalted court area. The school also maintains an Arboretum of natural flora and fauna as a natural learning environment. This covers 1 hectare and is located 1 kilometre from the school. The school grounds are well maintained and this reflects the strong commitment of the school and the local community to its environs.
The school undertook its triennial review during the first semester of 1998.
